Museum of Moving Images

On Thursday, February 26th, I visited the Museum of Moving Image in Astoria, Queens. At first the building looked kind of sketchy because the museum is in reconstruction but it turned out to be a very interesting experience. I participated in the animation demo.
The animation demo was really fun. Our tour leader, demonstrated the concept of animation with a computer and two plastic frogs. It was a process of recording the different readjustments of the drawings without recording your own hand in the attempt. It was cool to see the finished product. The animation simulated the idea behind the creation of cartoons like South Park.
With partners, we were able to create our own animations. Me and my partner decided to make an animation of the frogs jumping over each other. It was entertaining but we messed up several times and my partner's hand came out in about 3 shots.
At the end of our visit, we were given a free pass to visit again. I plan to go sometime soon and I'll probably create my own flipbook next time.
